alone on Mars and survives under extreme conditions that he learns to create for himself. In a way, he teaches both himself and the viewers how to endure life on another planet. Watney documents his daily experience through a personal camera, living in complete isolation for 550 days.
Drawing from this narrative, I chose to design a website envisioned as a touristic experience for people who wish to retreat into solitude and immerse themselves in a meditative journey, not on Earth, but on another planet.
Design
For the color palette, I chose a combination of warm Martian tones contrasted with cooler, more technical shades of blue. To balance the futuristic atmosphere, I introduced soft and warm illustrations that speak directly to the human experience, highlighting the personal and intimate journey one undergoes while being alone on the planet. In addition, I incorporated textures inspired by mountains and soil, grounding the design in a tactile, earthly connection.
