POSTCARDS OF PEACE

A New Year's postcard from "Shana-Tova Gaza in the south of Israel", printed in Berlin in 1907 by the publishing house "Jüdischer Verlag",was found in the "Central Zionist Archive" in Jerusalem it was the inspiration for my project "Postcards of Peace".
In the project "Postcards of Peace" I wanted to look at a vision from the distant past and move from it to a future vision relevant to our time. The aspiration to establish a Jewish state out of ideological unity and innocent national pride, which influenced the activities of the "Yudisher Perlag" publishing house, was translated into an innocent longing for peace in the Middle East. "Greeting postcards" were designed as a series of three animated postcards in accordance with the possibilities of distribution in the 21st century, and they can be downloaded and shared on social networks, which are a means of spreading the messages used today.
I chose this postcard because its inscription immediately caught my eye, ‘Palestine, Gaza’ alongside a Hebrew greeting of ‘Happy New Year.’ It struck me that such a card would be nearly unthinkable to print today. This realization, both painful and poignant, inspired me to create something that also feels distant from current reality, yet is full of hope: peace.
Within the collection, you’ll find postcards depicting significant and symbolic sites , from the Temple Mount and the Magen Avraham Synagogue in Beirut to the Jordan River. Each one was thoughtfully selected to reflect the layered and often conflicted histories of these places, while nurturing a longing for dialogue and the possibility of a shared, peaceful future.
