Design
The entire project is composed of footage shot specifically to reflect the unique story of each participant, alongside archival clips sourced and edited from tapes chosen especially for this work.
A deliberate decision was made to assign a distinct color tone to each part of the project, both to unify the visual language of the collected materials and to give each film its own identity.
Tying everything together is custom lettering, created especially for the project’s sound design, which was developed in collaboration with the participants themselves.
Donald Winnicott's "object relations" theory deals with a person's initial relationships and how they influence the formation of personality and self-identity. These relationships form the basis of personal development and resonate throughout the years. Childhood dolls, for example, are seen as a bridge to the past and even a tangible symbol of who we were. Children tend to choose dolls with which they identify - due to external characteristics or similar experiences, and this sense of identification continues into adulthood.
